USB External Drive Not Working Help


Since one week, I observe it was not working smoothly, many times the writing speed reduces to as low as 15 MB/s. Can anyone help. If it won't open on the second computer, then there is a problem with the drive itself. What may be the problem? but in my latest laptop toshiba p875-s7102 pre installed win 8 it does not recognize it. It could also be corrupt if the bar above the drive is black and shows as Unallocated. I tried connecting the EHD to the other two laptops I have, it does work fine. Brian KhoOct 24, 2013, 7:15 AM i experienced the same problem with my Seagate backup plus 1tb this morning, what i did was i went to disk management > click actions External Hard Drive Not Working I don't know if it is because of some kind of indexing. Seagate site says no jumper is needed for this drive. This fixed it perfectly.

  • After a lot of R&C (research and check) I found that seagate has announced if the drive doesn't work, one of the reasons may be the lack of sufficient watt or
  • Like I can find the drive in disk management and device manager but cannot create a new path or assign a letter to the drive to open it, unless I want
  • Do not open your computer hardware or your HDD external enclosure, if you are not comfortable with it.
  • If the problem still continues, try using a different USB port.

I have a Medea external videoraid unit that has strangely *disappeared* from explorer as well, but it shows as working normally in the device mgr. Can't access the data without the raid controller as it is striped on the two drives.Help! The HDD is also split into 4 different sub-folders now.
