Unless you have an ssd in that enclosure understand it is still a hard drive and thats the main reason you dont want to drop it . This should create enough force to break the stiction.
The drive dont sound like its working, normally you can feel its working, there is nothing. I got the regular one without backup and it works flawlessly with no beeping for me. Sorry I couldn't get more descriptive on mobile. I got it sitting in a Aerocool QX-2000 atm waiting to morph into a very near future HTPC.
There is a 50/50 chance that this is something that can’t be dealt with at all (bad bearings/frozen spindle) without a rebuild using donor parts you probably don’t have. Im holding onto that until 1TB SSD's drop to below 200.
