If so it is definitely a hardware issue with the HDD. But, can you move the secondary drive to the primary drive location and see it if is detected. If this is really confusing to you, let me know, and I'll simplify. That doesn't mean the data is missing, it means the drive won't work so you can get to it.   • My 1st IDE HDD working normal way when 2nd SATA HDD detached.
  • If you do, use that IDE and power cable and jumper setting.
  • I would like to get the files off an old hard drive and your solution sounds like it would work for me.
