January 4, 2013 Tina I have an Hp touchsmart and the hard drive went out. I run any applications and i can see the files (jpg, mp3, avi, mpeg..etc) but i can recover all files with one software.. Slaving a hard drive is usually done primarily for data recovery, an example we see a lot is a hard drive is recognized in the BIOS, but not by Windows. It has no oeprating system just ALL my personal files and stuff. Thanks! I installed this drive back into my dell deskptop and popped in my XP CD to see if I can install the OS. But nothing happens, the keyboard is not recognized. Take it to your local electronics shop and they'll give you a replacement (Radio Shack, Best Buy, etc….). So i thought, lets install the drives that come in the cd with the MOBO right ?

Unfortunately, hard drives are a commodity and need to be treated as such.
