And I’m reposting the solution here, just to insure anyone else who faces this particular problem in the future can find this solution faster than I did! Prior to the final eSATA 6Gbit/s specification many add-on cards and some motherboards advertised eSATA 6Gbit/s support because they had 6Gbit/s SATA 3.0 controllers for internal-only solutions.
