WD2500ME External HDD Not Recognized :(


I took the part number from old power supply transformer and google soon found me a replacement under £9.00 arrived in two days and Hey presto my external drive now works. The iMac is basically a copy of what was on the Macbook (I used Migration Assistant to copy the entire computer) so why does the iMac not "see" the WD?Please help?
