The failing key cap had little plastic tabs broken off. It worked perfectly for my Z key!

just call microsoft and tell them that there is key that doesnt work anymore, they will ask you to do some other step to try it (like trying check over here Online stores like eBay are a good place to find a replacement keyboard.
