- I was just unaware the brand of video card made that big of a difference, but I'm sure on next gen games it doesn't.

Newer display drivers still cause lag in XP32 though. try cleaning the PC and video card before the disabling of VPU recover option. thx gl, Nov 3, 2011 #10 bakurayuri TS Rookie Topic Starter the problem become worse. http://www.howtogeek.com/forum/topic/graphics-card-error-please-help Ask a question and give support.

It's the only ATI card I've ever really had trouble with. http://winaudit.org/guides/vpu-graphics/vpu-graphics-accelerator-error.html However the computer running Windows XP SP2 (The first one) now comes up with an error with any game. Again, it's not terrible, but I'm not getting my $200 worth out of this card, and think maybe a EVGA GTX275 would be better suited. Hi Guys, I think that I have managed to fix it. So I continue to type, but before I could finish it, it freezed, this cased never happened so far. Thanks, I did as you suggested and I still get the same error playing any games.
No idea why it shows two.
Please check with your hardware device vendor for any driver updates.I have checked for updates, but the the system indicates that I have the current driver. But safe mode (network) or (without network) works properly without any black box or whatever thing, though it is still lag but it's understandable since safe mode is work without graphic Have you tried a System Restore to a point before you installed Dirt2? I have a 4850 and the same thing happened to me when I ran FFXI under Vista x64 or Win7 x64. as PH said try system store before you installed DIRT 2. My computer is still lagging whenever I pull the tab. Check This Out If it wasn't, you wouldn't get any display at all.
Some of the cards by default have the fan speed set to an amazingly low 15%. But in thedisplay> portion of the Control Panel for setting display properties, two screensare> shown (one is shown as inactive)> "DL"

No idea why it shows two. Weird I know, I thought the drivers on the CD were older, but whatever they were, they stopped the issues I was having.Maybe you should try an older driver?-- MCRMAME(tm) - The lagging I mean is like whenever you use safe mode (without graphic card) and you try to move some tab around with mouse, it will like lagging. The system was not responding to any keyboard > commands.> "Mic"
shut down Windows, and re-boot. I didn't because I can't find the uninstall button in control panel/add or remove program. Newer display drivers still cause lag in XP32 though. While it is in safe mode the graphics card is still being used.

I've had bad experiences with ATI cards in the past, so I'm on the verge of taking this back and getting a EVGA GTX275. hey PH, the 9800GT is good, i was looking at the 5xxx series ATI for the OP, but that series uses PCI-E 2.1, im sure its compatible with the OP'S PCI-E I get this weird error where the screen will go black after awhile, then come back on with FFXI crashed, and a message saying "VPU recover has reset your graphics accelerator The main screen resolution for "FINAL FANTASY XI" is dependent on the "Overlay Graphics Resolution" setting.
when getting a new video card you must always make sure you have enough juice to power it, i.e is your power supply enough? The computer that I have is a Dell Vostro 200 Slim. So what is the main problem is going right here ?
