It is important for me in that way, that I think about buying a mbpr and a thunderbolt display, leaving my 'Windows only world'. This all works correct. For the entire time that I have had Admin rights to my own machine, I have had no troubles with having to reset the screen resolution. But if you don't, the display changes may not be applied to all items on the screen, like for instance the Start Screen.
