Though I imagine it might be easier to just use GP2X's successor (Wiz?), assuming they have a suitable emulator (not unlikely since DosPad for jailbroken iPod exists). In my opinion the best Sound Blasters for DOS would be CT3900 and CT2760. The AWE64G on the other hand actually has pretty decent stereo output. It sounds like complete crap when it comes to FM Synthesis because there is none. DOS may be, and seemingly must be a different story though... I did buy another Sound Blaster 16 non PNP that also did not work. In general, the ideal is an ISA sound card. Feeding speaker level audio (internal amp on) to a pair of amplified speakers would most likely result in a distorted sound, and may even blow out the speakers. If only *one* ISA slot is important, there were several socket 370 boards with a single ISA slot perfect for a SB16. If you want a good PCI sound card, get a Yamaha YMF724 or Yamaha YMF74x.
