I don't think $100 is too much for a nice peripheral if it increases immersion. So if I buy one of those fancy shmancy 5.1 or 7.1 headsets, will it be a waste with my onbaord Realtek? i listen to more than my fair share of dubstep and electronica. very bright crisp highs but limited bass response. Here's the thing, USB headsets depend on their own built in sound cards which are occasionally decent, but usually of low quality.
That being said though, if it really makes a difference in sound quality and it costs significantly less, I wouldn't mind buying it. The headphones seem perfect for rocking out to the Rolling Stones or listening to the lyrical genius that is Eminem, but I'm not sure it can really "drop the bass" for Oddly though, the home theatre MDR-3000's had the best side-audio processing of any headset I've ever owened, as the channels really stood out. well worth a look just make sure you go higher than the dx2als using a usb headset means you wont actually get any benefit from a sound card. it seems like you dont care about soundstage much but want good bass without totally muddying up the highs and mids.
