I have a problem with the card in windows 7 though: I like to get the treble all the way up, and the bass up a bit, it makes things sound it's hard to describe. Start a new discussion instead. I will either go for an external DAC (must use optical input because USB is affected by the ground loop problem), or get a ground isolator.

Some DACs may already have USB isolation built in, such as the Music Streamer II/II+ by HRT.
