Toshiba Laptop Wont Boot Past Toshiba Screen

Last night a windows update happened the computer shut down and I went to bed. I've had this Toshiba for almost four years and never even once took out the battery until today's black screen scare and only because of your helpful suggestion. Brought back to Best Buy. Ask !

Did got my wifi back but my pc was BLACK!

It was hit or miss at first. Now the display shows dimly or not at all.
