Video Card Upgrade Advice Requested

I run an Athlon XP at 70C, and people think I'm crazy and that my computer is going to blow up. If you don't have sufficient PS capacity to support the dual SLI cards, you'll need to replace that too, and that will add expense which would likely make the 9xx card Most of the graphics cards sold by B&H are compatible with Windows only. I get your point, since there are some cheaper ones. click site

Installing Windows XP from a bootable CD is pretty painless, and if you've purchased fairly mainstream PC hardware, you shouldn't have any problems. I tried upgrading to a Radeon 5850 but apparently it is not compatible with PCI-E 1.0a. Thank you very much in advance for any advice given. Drivers up to date as of last week. Here are the main specs - please forgive me if I left something vital out: AMD Athlon II X4 630 Quad Core Processor (2.8 GHz) 4 GB RAM ATI Radeon HD Then the bad news, I go to newegg to check prices, after some confusion, I discover she recommended MB and CPUs which apparently don’t go together, makes me pretty nervous :(

And Far Cry 2 is just being mean: Anyhow, a GPU upgrade would still be first up, but a CPU upgrade is definitely going to be necessary soon. AMD is on the way with their 300 series, and Nvidia should expand the 900 series at some point too. With all the CTD we have been having, things are getting a little mixed up because in addition to the ctd problem, I occasionally lose control of my keyboard and mouse If you want it for more new hotness games than that - you may be in for a slightly rougher time.

It turned out the reset connector was improperly connected. Dear all, Im looking at upgrading my system. Building PC's has gotten a lot easier over the years. But I'd be surprised if there isn't something better available by spring.

  1. Probably try this one.   They should both provide useful breakdowns.
  2. I have occasional driver recoveries also among the CTD occurrances.
  3. No, create an account now.
  4. Some games may not even be compatible, which force you to end up using one card to play. 980 would be much better or 970 for better bang for bucks..

  7. The I5-4690K I run now is just a lot smoother - there was always a kind of lurching stutter to things on the I3, where you would run a game fine
  8. As sakkura said, the r9 270 is in the sweet spot price/performance wise right now, so I would recommend that.
  9. So I'd go with that.

Lloyd- if you do build it I would recommend only hooking up the power switch connector initially just to make sure the computer works. http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/desktop/f/3515/t/19438784 Just did some test runs and runs GTA V on max settings now which is quite nice :) Thanks all for your input! 06-06-2015, 12:50 PM #10 Masterchiefxx17 Microsoft I played this with the 670 ftw edition and it rocked it.. B&H carries more than a hundred different graphics cards, but only a handful of them are PCI and fewer still are AGP.

The one I recommended would be just fine for either one.The motherboard should be fine with mildly OCing the 3770k.There is a lot of aspects to consider with ram, but these What I would do with your system is buy a new Nforce 2 motherboard for an AMD CPU, new RAM, a CPU, and possibly a new power supply. If it wasn't for that, I'd suggest waiting another year, but the lack of DX11 effectively locks you out of certain games you'd otherwise be able to play. Mostly for the graphical performance. Any strong feelings about the MB,CPU,and videocard alternatives?
