I would like to include a question in this thread about finding and installing more RAM for my 7 year old laptop which ALSO has only 256KB RAM installed and also, I went with doing the upgrade from vista 64bit over doing a fresh install to prevent re-installing programs and just laziness. Don't think this is the cause of my problem though.. Some process must be using too much RAM causing your machine to use Pagefile which would account for the increased HDD activity. Good Luck with the Junk!! Your "culprit" should be right at the top.
