Seems any kind of reliable script that switches the default audio playback device when a certain program is started would do the trick. Just like Apple, Microsoft is becoming Big Brother and wants absolute control over the applications, as well as all of the data and personal information, on any machine they can grab Is there a way to set specific applications in Windows 7 to different output devices? Windows doesn't directly support this but if you have a proper sound card (I have a Realtek HD Audio sound card on-board my mobo) then you can achieve this capability. Apparently Media Player can do this (and if you have a decent sound card so can Audacity), but neither xbox music nor video can do this.
