In fact, the applications I use routinely (Word, PPT, AOL, IE) all run much more efficiently now. (They all had been running sluggish for quite some time.) Apparently I already had Svchost Using Internet I can bloody well kill the kernel in decent operating systems. Now CPU is back to normal. Great stuff!
